Photos by Don Jensen, shooting on flim, through the 1980s and 1990s. The photographs reveal the Westerner's eclectric taste for the flamboyant and the Asian offerings designed for the export market. This included extravagent carving, teak and painted black lacquer.
Prior to 1997, before Hong Kong returned from British to chinese rule, authentic antiques and art were rarely allowed for export except through the ports of Hong Kong and Taiwan by knowledgeable and connected collectors and traders.
